Kathy
I have been practicing yoga since 2003 after my first daughter was born. I found yoga as a gentle way to get in shape after pregnancy. While I continued to practice, I discovered that yoga was much more than a way to get in shape. Once my second daughter was born, yoga was a way for me to relax, connect with my Self and find my center. Yoga continues to help me stay grounded and is a wonderful compliment to my love of running and hiking.
In 2015 – 2016, my family and I spent 9 months traveling around the country in a truck camper, I wrote and published a memoir about our journey (get it HERE), while I wasn’t able to pop into a yoga class in every town we visited, I did get to visit a good handful of studios to keep my practice up and developed my own yoga routine that I could do in the confines of our camper. When we returned home from our trip, I knew that my next journey was to follow my love of yoga and dive into yoga teacher training. I received my 200 hour RYT through Synergy Yoga School with a focus on Vinyasa flow yoga, yoga philosophy and Ayurveda, the sister science to yoga. This training has prepared me to follow my path to teaching gentle and energetic Vinyasa classes around the Seattle area.
My Teaching Style: My yoga offering is designed for every person’s individual needs in mind. I teach a loving and nourishing slow flow vinyasa style and offer options to increase or soften the practice depending on where each student is on that day. In my parent and baby yoga classes, I offer caregivers an opportunity to connect with their breath and their body while I get to play with and cuddle the babies!
Why I teach yoga: My goal as a yoga teacher is to share my love and passion with anyone that is interested. Whether you have been practicing for years or just getting started, yoga is the union of body movement and breath and I believe it is for EveryBody.
Fun fact / When I’m not teaching yoga: You can find me in the outdoors adventuring with my energetic dogs, reading a great book or writing about what inspires me on my blog.
